By train

The National railway system does not arrive to Matera on a direct line, the easier alternative is to arrive near the stations of Ferrandina (35 Km from Matera) or Bari (66 Km from Matera)
1 if you arrive to the station of Ferrandina you can take a bus of the “Ferrovie Appulo Lucane” line (FAL).
2 if you arrive to the station of Bari you can take a bus or a train of FAL line.
 

By bus

Bus company Marino connects Matera to Milano, Ancona, Bologna, Chianciano, Fiuggi, Napoles, Novara, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo and Urbino, and to numerous foreign cities, too. Bus companies Marozzi and Liscio connect the city of Rome, Florence, Pisa and Siena with two diurnal and one nocturnal travel.

By car

Adriatica Coast: you must cover the freeway Bologna/Taranto until the escape of Bari Nord, therefore you must follow the indications Altamura- Matera, on ss 99.
Tirrenica coast: you must enter in the freeway Salerno Reggio Calabria until the escape of Sicignano degli Alburni, therefore continue for Potenza, subsequently for Metaponto through ss 407, Basentana until the indications for Matera.
Ionic Coast: proceed on the ss 106 in direction towards Metaponto, in other words head for Matera.

By plane

Bari-Palese airplane station (approximately 60 Km)

* Once you have Matera gone down to " Sassi" to reach San  Pietro Caveoso     Square.

  

   The square is  freely accessible by car and, it is allowed without a parking           ticket.

   Reception is just at a few metres from the square.

   It's available at the Hotel,a car shuttle driver for all destinations.
